Building a stronger reach with high quality followers will help boost your tweets’ rankings.

Try to have a small set of keywords and use them throughout the day in your tweets to help boost your rankings.

Ensure tweet lengths are retweetable and that brings in the importance of short username.

Post remarkable updates that appeal to influencers.

Make twitter usernames spam-free and try to use your company name if possible.

Include keywords in your twitter bio as search engine results often display your twitter bio in the description.

Google is on a constant move and doing every possible update the keep their SERP’s clean and free of spam. They have framed out where the most trusted links appear on the website:

Content Section: Links present in this section are the most valuable and trusted.
Header Section: These links are also valuable, as most of the sites don’t engage in selling links here.
Side Navigation: Google tends to devalue these links especially external links due to large-scale abuse by link exchange.
Comment Section: This section can pass some value but due to constant spam they are of little value now.
Footer Links: These links are basically worthless.

Try getting links from the content section of the website as these are highly valued and have great impact on search engine rankings.

Can’t Touch This (I am sure that is what Google is thinking)- yeah right. MC Hammer has just launched a new search engine called Wiredoo. Although only in beta testing at this stages Wiredoo’s goal is to take on Google but with a focus on relationship search. Whereas Google focuses on keywords, Wiredoo will focus more on more deep rooted keywords and the relationship between them. So, in effect, Wiredoo will not just look at the car you want to buy, it will also provide results on the model, the price, the specifications, the mileage, and event the postcode.

It will take something pretty special to take even a tiny slice of Google’s market share.

Breadcrumbs are navigation tools implemented while designing the website that helps user easily navigate through your website. They help create easy links within your site that boosts your website search engine rankings. Breadcrumbs help in making your site more functional for both search engines and your potential users which means better conversion rates and more sales for your website. They help a lot with your internal linking and therefore your search engine visibility.

Google has been recently testing extending ad headlines/title for ads appearing above the search result pages. For some ads, description line 1 will be moved to the headline and separated by a hyphen. As a result, some top placement ads will have longer headlines. However, for the ads to appear with extended headlines, each description line should appear to be a distinct sentence and ending in the proper punctuation. Google claims that these ads have higher Click Through Rate. These changes come in conjunction with changes in background color from more distinguishable pink to light yellow for the ads above organic search results.! Some analysts think that these changes are meant to seamlessly integrate ads into organic results.

PPC campaign for local businesses can be a bit different from the other larger businesses. For most local businesses, especially to start, I recommend using a geo-modified keyword campaign and then moving into setting up another campaign which is more of a keyword driven campaign rather than a geographically driven campaign (from a keyword standpoint). This is because starting out with a huge AdWords campaign can be overwhelming to a new user, which can lead to poor management and a poor account quality score right off the bat.

As most of you will know we are working with over 40 clients at the moment which makes us incredibly busy, so busy in fact that we only have two Google accounts across all those clients – it would be impossible to have a log in for each clients.

Anyhow, last week I went to update one of our clients listings and we were shocked to see that the only way to verify this change was to send a postcard to the listed address of our client. I did some searching online and could find nothing on the issue, including Google blog.

Subsequently, I have tried listing from five other PC’s, on a different network & even from an Internet cafe’ & still the problem remains, thanks goodness it was not our accounts that are the problem.

So it seems Google phone verification may be a thing of the past, and it disappearing is creating a huge problem for businesses like ours. Yes, if you had not guessed it, we have lost a little of our control. Now, just to do the smallest change, we have wait until Google sends a postcard to our client (up to 3 weeks), then hope that is actually gets there & then they relay the information to us.

Surely this is not a cost effective option for Google.

I invite anyone who has had any experience with this change, or has any opinion, to share their experience with us as information on this issue is extremely limited at this stage.

Just a litle follow up on this article. If you need confirmation of this issue please visit Google Places Help.
